This neighborhood is a common theme for San Leandro with many of the homes built after World War II. Most homes are still older ranch styles. The bookstore, A World of Books, is another local favorite for your average text junky. The Manor Grill and Bar has reasonably priced dishes served in large portions by friendly and attentive staff. They are recognized for their hearty breakfasts and awesome salads. The Manor Shopping Center was remodeled 5 years ago and now hosts beauty services, a post office, a few restaurants and a preschool.
Washington Manor Middle School serves grade 6-8 and has an API score of 790. Residents and critics have rated it an overall 3 out of 5 stars. Its engaging strategies encourage family and community support in the learning process. It also adopts a smaller learning environment which bonds with peers, adults and the world at large.
