The Castro Village Shopping Center is considered the heart of downtown providing food, retail and service outlets. Located on Castro Valley Boulevard, it offers over 20 businesses such as TJ Maxx, Hallmark, Massage Envy and Castro Village Bowling Alley. The plaza also has a vast array of dining options for diverse audiences. Anywhere from Indian to Thai all the way back to the basics of pizza and deli sandwiches. It truly has something to offer for everyone! A famous Restaurant, Rigatonis, is known for its authentic pasta and sauces in a lively habitat of Italian tradition.
Cull Canyon Recreational Area is a park stretching over 300 acres minutes away from Interstate 580. Validated for its exceptional design and fertile landscape, it’s a perfect spot to fish, barbeque or simply soak up the sun. The swimming lagoon is supplied with fresh tap water along a personal beach for visitors. The park comes equipped with its own bathhouse and an abundance of food and vending options.
Castro Valley instructs approximately 9,000 students ranging from preschool to adult curriculums. Castro Valley High School has close to 3,000 of these students on campus. It has repeatedly achieved its academic objectives with the current API score of 819. In California, it ranks 8 out of 10 for efficiency of its program. Furthermore, it has a high graduation rate at nearly 98 percent in the 2012-2013 semester. Castro Valley has 9 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, 2 high schools and 1 adult school.

Castro Valley has its own BART Station that could conveniently connect you to anywhere in the Bay Area. AC Transit is the regional bus system that circulates the counties of Alameda and parts of Contra Costa. There are only a couple of lines that serve Castro Valley. Route 32 is the most popular and links passengers to three immediate BART Stations: Castro Valley, Bay Fair and Hayward. In addition, three main interstates: 580, 238 and 880 are all comfortably positioned for the mobile traveler. Lastly, CSU East Bay offers a free shuttle for students traveling from Campus to Castro Valley and parts of Hayward. This is a great opportunity for scholars but many non-students ride the shuttle as well.
